What are some key tips on fixing my credit the dos and don’ts?
I have read up on this alot so I am looking for more then just the obvious ones online maybe something from your own personal expereince would be more helpful.
The two things that surprised me when I was working on improving my credit score are:
1) Paying the minimum payment on credit cards keeps your score down but paying only $1 more than the minimum payment will improve your score.
2) Don’t have available credit that you don’t plan to use or expect to need. In my case, I applied for a Dell Preferred Account so when I needed software or supplies for my Dell computers and printers, I could easily order them and pay with my Dell Account. Dell came me a $4000 credit limit which lowered my credit score. I called them and asked to have my credit limit lowered to $1000.
